Soularium Update - II

Just received this...

Soularium is taking France by storm! :) We have tested this tool locally with staff and students in Toulouse, France and has been great! There have been dozens of people mobilized to share their faith through initiative evangelism, discussion groups, and other ways that we are using it. Students have said that it gives them confidence because it is so easy to transition into spiritual conversations with people and they see that God can use them to share about Jesus with people! We shared our experience at our national conference over Christmas and now several cities have used or are planning to use Soularium as a method to engage students in conversation. Thanks!

More encouraging news. Third print run is now in production...

Hey Keith,
Is there an online version of soularium? We too love the tool at Chico State but were wondering about the web option.

Brian,
No, at this time there is not an on-line version. There is the related site - mysoularium.com - a place to see other's responses and record conversations.

But because of "intellectual property" rights related to artists (in this case, photographers) work, we are being slow to expand Soularium offerings.

Perhaps someday, but all things legal take time...

I thought we re-shot these images to avoid this problem.

Just for fun I tried googling various permutations of Christian resources. It was really discouraging to see how few sites actually gave away quality resources.

Even Rick Warren's site was not as comprehensive as I thought.

Has there been any talk of Crusade giving away our quality bible study and other great resources?

Actually, we did reshoot them with a CCC staff and student photographer. But there remains issues. But since this is above my pay-grade (or outside my knowledge), you would need to check with Tanya Walker re: the issues and how that influences what we do on the web.

Bummer. We are starting an outreach next week tied in to the Solarium theme. We purchased one image that we will use, have surveys on campus and in the dorms based on the image, and then have a blog that we started in the hopes of keeping the spiritual dialogue going. The blog is (areyoufencedin.blogspot.com).

Also, do you have any resources on your computer related to evangelism, bible studies, or anything else as it connects to field ministry? I just started a Wiki page under PSW, called Resources, where I'm trying to compile a variety or resources. I would love to expand my limited base and get some things from seasoned leaders like yourself.

You can email them to me if you would like and I will definitely post them and ensure that my team knows about them.

You can go onto the Campus Ministry wiki and explore these:

What else would you like?

I love using Soularium. Is there any way these can be made into the size of a deck of playing cards, about half the size, they would be easier to handle? Also, what is the easiest way for most people to get to the actual gospel message? I'm fine going through the survey questions and even asking them more about their answers.

Jackson,
Re: the size of Soularium cards. The suggestion of a smaller size has been discussed in the past. However, because of the "artist" nature of Soularium (as opposed to merely a utilitarian tool) that option has not been pursued. The concern (as I understand it) is that the images would loose power if reduced too much. Those decisions are handled by the Soularium team.

Re: getting into the gospel - I find it easiest to simply ask, "Can I show you which picture I would choose for... (God, my spiritual journey, etc.)?" From there I can share a bit of "my story", explore more of theirs, perhaps ask if they have come to the point in life of receiving Christ as their personal Savior and Lord or is that something they are still heading towards. If they are still heading there (which most seem to admit, when worded this way), it is an easy step to ask if you can show them how they can do that, when they are ready.
